Others before the where not mistaken. A few decades ago, a handful of adventurers, daring Europeans, fell in love with this small village at the end of the world, without water, without electricity, without roads. They created a school, shops, a hotel the two, restaurants… Many others imitated them, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Canadian, American then reussian too, Colombian, Argentinian… And, it is this good communicative understanding reigning between all these cultural differences with gives this unique place its richness, its charm and a rare sweetness of life.

Aimlessly, here and there, let’s go to meet places, people, landscapes, unusual architectures…

strolling with pleasure among the colors, the smells, the noises… To understand Las Terrenas, to love this very special village, it you have to soak up the charm of the street. Of course, sometimes the conchos make a little too much noise, holes dot the road, be careful not to twist your feet… But the street, the calle de Las Terrenas, is something unique. A strange and subtle atmosphere, which is not found anywhere else. Shops of odds and ends with improbable roofs, quite a poem. Early in the morning, the old people pull up their plastic chairs and settle on the sidewalks, the children play behind the railings, the viralats go in search of food and the conchos in search of customers

, the guaguas gather, the shrimp sellers arrive from Sanchez, the shopkeepers raise their curtains, the music sets in… loudly… the day can start in this unique, magical, bewitching place.

Scattered here and there or clumped together, the small craft stalls are an integral part of the landscape of Las Terrenas. They contribute, it goes without saying, to its bewitching charm. Spruce and tangy colors for hovels of odds and ends often covered with an improbable roof just made of resourcefulness and which holds only by the operation of the Holy Spirit. It sells everything and nothing, multicolored bicycles, balloons, hair scrunchies for girls, candy, bottles of cheap shampoo, watches, single cigarettes, plastic trinkets, coconut oil, Coca Cola cans, gasoline, sugar cane stalks, oranges. …We repair watches, televisions or telephones there…. We buy succulent empanadas that we bite into while walking. Pretty lascivious girls, all smiles, offer you jeans, funny little tops or almost fine lingerie. Improvised colmados offer in the middle of an incredible but delicious mess, “eggs of the day”, Brugal, very fresh Presidente, Mamajuana, bread, biscuits or kitchen utensils in tin.
